June 6, 1942 ~ June 8, 2018

"Together Again"

Betty Lou Cole Stephens, age 76, passed away on June 8, 2018, of complications due to diabetes.

Mom was born on June 6, 1942, in Ogden, Utah, to Lowell and Birdean Huffaker Cole. She was the oldest of three children. She lived most of her life in Ogden, Utah, graduating from Ogden High School in 1960.

She attended Brigham Young University and graduated from Weber College with a degree in education. She taught shorthand and typing at Ben Lomond High School. She worked at Wangsgards while attending college. It was there that she met her future husband, Kent Stephens. They were married June 25, 1965, in the Logan LDS Temple. She returned to work at Wangsgards in 1980, and retired in 2000.

Mom was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings in the Relief Society and Primary. She was a faithful visiting teacher, ministering to her ladies until the end. She was also a wonderful example to her children and grandchildren of someone who loved the scriptures.

Betty Lou loved music and played the piano and violin when she was younger. She loved going out to dinner. Saturday night would usually find her at Maddox or Crown Burger. She loved being with her family, especially her grandkids, who were the love of her life. She attended every one of their programs, sports events, and plays that she could. She loved taking trips to Yellowstone, tin foil dinners in the canyon, family get-togethers, and rides in the car, especially if it ended at Maverik for a Diet Coke.

She is survived by her four loving children: Jeff, Riverdale; Mike (Leann), South Weber; Craig (Tammee), Plain City; and Wendy (Shane) Henrie, Harrisville. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, David L. Cole of Plain City; and Larry T. (Margaret) Cole of South Ogden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kent; and her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the Rock Cliff 7th ward LDS Church, 300 Gramercy Ave. in Ogden, UT. Friends and family may attend a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018, at Leavitt's Mortuary. A viewing will also be held prior to funeral services at the church from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m.

Interment at Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial Park.
